Results can differ from Fast.com, Ookla or Cloudflare: each uses different test endpoints and CDNs, a different distance between you and the server, a different number of simultaneous connections, and a different test duration. What does this test measure?
Four things, all measured live in your browser against this site's own endpoints: download throughput, upload throughput, latency (ping), and jitter. Nothing is simulated or estimated — every number comes from real bytes that were actually transferred and timed.
Why can results differ from Fast.com or other tests?
Every test uses different servers in different places. Fast.com streams from Netflix's global CDN, Ookla and Cloudflare use their own large networks; this test uses a single hosting edge. Distance to the server, the number of simultaneous connections, how long the test runs, and congestion on the path all shift the result. Treat this as a fast diagnostic, not a certified benchmark.
How is download speed tested?
Your browser opens four parallel streamed downloads of incompressible, cache-busted random data. The first ~700 ms is discarded as warm-up, then throughput is timed in 250 ms slices using the browser's high-resolution clock. The reported figure is the median of the sustained slices, inside an 8-second time box you can cancel at any moment.
How is upload speed tested?
After the download phase, your browser POSTs a fixed chunk of randomly generated bytes repeatedly over three connections to an endpoint that drains and discards the body. The first chunk on each connection is dropped as warm-up, and the sustained rate is calculated from the completed transfers. Browsers can't reliably stream a request body, so this uses whole requests — if it can't complete, the result reads "Unavailable" rather than being estimated.
What are ping and jitter?
Ping (latency) is how long a tiny request takes to reach the server and come back — the median of six probes here. Jitter is how much that round-trip time varies between probes. Low ping keeps calls and games responsive; low jitter keeps audio and video from stuttering even when raw bandwidth looks fine.
Why is my IP address shown?
So you can see which network the benchmark actually measured — useful when you're behind a VPN, a mobile hotspot, or a work connection. Your browser fetches it directly from a public lookup service and it is only displayed on your screen. We don't store, log, or share it, and if the lookup fails the field reads "Unavailable".
How can I get the most accurate results?
Use a wired connection or stand close to your router, pause large downloads, streaming, and backups, close other heavy tabs, and run the test more than once — networks fluctuate. On mobile data, remember each full run transfers real data in both directions.
Is my data private?
Yes. QR codes are generated entirely on your device and never sent anywhere. Speed-test payloads are random bytes that are discarded on arrival. There are no analytics scripts, advertising pixels, or third-party tracking cookies on this page. Full details are in the Privacy & Data Transparency panel in the footer.
